Let’s upgrade Vietnam – Japan cooperative business relationship

2014/11/04

Dear our precious customers, I am Kondo Noboru, CEO of Brain Works Group.

Recently, the building of Vietnam-Japan cooperative business relationship has changed rapidly. For us who have started running our business in Vietnam for 20 years, we can feel this dramatic change than anyone else. However, there are just a small number of Japanese entrepreneurs who really care about doing business in Vietnam.

Although a part of Japanese have paid attention to Vietnam, for the rest, Vietnam still remained as an unknown country. This time, I will explain briefly about Japan situation and Japanese perspective on Southeast Asia, and also present the next steps of Vietnam-Japan cooperative business relationship.

Currently, Japanese government is putting a great deal of effort in reviving agriculture. The government is going to set aside a budget to cope with the economic depression in rural areas caused of population decline. Under this circumstance, Japanese businessmen began to pay attention on Southeast Asia though only in Singapore and Thailand. However, we have a difference view. We have considered doing business in Vietnam as an important hub to expand business throughout Southeast Asia.

If you compare the problems that Vietnam and Japan have faced in the medium and long term, the cooperation of two countries has a significant meaning. Our two countries are indispensable partners in the development of each other in various fields such as manufacturing, construction, retail, food service, IT …which is waiting for the most favorable opportunity to have strong first step.

Training and cultivating manpower is the key to success. High quality human resource was the main motivation of the powerful development in Japan after-war as the most obvious example. The method of building personnel systems of Japan also one of the best methods all over the world. In contrast, Vietnam hasn’t taken advantage of available potential human resources due to the short business history. And it would be a waste if Vietnam can’t use up this advantage. With the help from Japan, the fundamental relationship between two countries will be strengthened undoubtedly.

Besides, shortage of successors of small and medium enterprises is becoming more and more serious problem. 40% of amount approximately 2 million small and medium Japanese enterprises have been facing difficulty in finding successors, thus facing with the danger of closing. But with the disappearance of these enterprises and their technical know-how, the advanced technical level, which is Japan’s proud to the world will be weakened also. It is not too much to say that is a national threaten.

On the other hand, developing countries in Southeast Asia such as Vietnam are in need such of advanced technical of Japanese small and medium enterprises. Therefore the problem is how to connect Vietnamese enterprises with Japanese small and medium enterprises who have many experience and “dare to think, dare to do” spirit.

Our company is implementing Asia Bridge service to support Vietnam-Japan business cooperation. Besides of regular seminars, matching business conferences, we also provide timely business information to customers by books, magazines and websites. In human resources training field, we have been striving to support enterprises in various fields such as manufacturing, construction, retail, food service, IT, in training management skills and improving business operation.

In the future, we intend to boost up introducing senior, experienced human resources from Japan to Vietnam. We are convinced that if they can come and work as manager or advisor in Vietnamese enterprises, it will contribute a lot to growth of Vietnam economic. Moreover, we will also prepare and deliver you “Japan Business Report” in which collect aggregate reports of Japanese entrepreneurs’ point of view and their strategy to expand their business in Southeast Asia in general and Vietnam in particular as well as their demand from business partners like you. Please keep looking forward it.

With our knowledge and experiences which have been accumulated for 20 years doing business in Vietnam, we hope to be able to contribute more and more to promote Vietnam-Japan business cooperation. If you have anything to discuss with us about cooperating with Japanese enterprises or doing business in Japan, please feel free to contact us.
